What breed is my cat?

im bought my cat from a pet shop and i'm pretty sure he is just a domestic, which could mean he has a bit of everything but i also found alot of pictures of bombay cats that have the same appearence as him. he has medium length hair, and is very dark almost black and has yellow eyes. he is very affectionite and is also very playful, does anyone know of any ways i can find out his origin?

I would say that your cat is more than likely Bombay in breed. The reason I say this is because a Bombay is created when you mix a Burmese with an American Shorthair. There is also the combination of Siamese with a Black British. Basically the Bombay breed is just a mixed breed cat. A Bombay breed cat is really just a domestic cat, and they are actually quite common. As was pointed out, unless you have the pedigree, just assume that your cat is a domestic and love him for who he is. Putting the time and effort into trying to prove he is Bombay would be more trouble than I would be willing to go through.

Unless you have your cat's "official" pedigree, I'd say he's simply a domestic short hair. Many cats that have a lot of black have at least some Siamese in their background, so you may have a "talker" on your hands - one of my favorite Siamese traits.

I HAVE SEEN A CAT EXACTLY LIKE THAT AND I WAS IMPRESSED. THEY ARE SO VIVID IN COLOR. TRY THE LIBRARY AND ASK THE PET SHOP WHERE THEY GOT HIM ? THEN VISIT THE BREEDER.

post a picture here. Since he was just from a pet shop he's probably just a domestic tabby.

What breed is my cat?

If your cat is a domestic, he/she should have a marking of a M on it's forehead this signifys a domestic cat..

What breed is my cat?

DOMESTIC CAT OR DOMESTIC SHORT HAIRED TABBY

I agree with anabella, sounds like a Bombay. I had a female years ago, and friends have a male now.

You'll know for sure when his size is double that of a "normal" male cat. The male Bombays look like small panthers, and at full maturity are about two-thirds the size of a Manx (said friends also have a Manx). He'll also develop a unique meow sound.
